Vance took the stage at 2:55 after a brief introduction by Rep. Richard Hudson to Toby Keith's "American Ride." He did not gaggle when disembarking AF2.
We are in an aircraft hangar here at Kinston Regional Jetway. It's a small crowd, but full. Maybe a few hundred people, some holding signs reading "KEEP THE MAJORITY."
Notes on his remarks here. He spoke for 33 minutes.

Vance, appealing to the crowd, and says "vinegar barbecue is the very best."
Vance says he has a blister on his finger after playing with fireworks with his children: "Long story short, I burned the hell out of my finger. It still hurts to this day."
Vance says US leaders at an undetermined point stopped attempting to govern and turned the country into "a universal globalist empire."
"Our capital became not just America's capital; it became the world's capital. And our leaders tried to administer a globe full of 8 billion potential citizens, but they forgot that they were meant to fight the citizens who were already in the United States of America," Vance says.
He says the Trump administration has stopped this approach.
"If you question like I did or like you did this new arrangement, you got called some names. You got called a isolationist or a protectionist or a racist. People said that we had economic anxiety as if we had a mental disorder rather than a love of the United States of America."
Vance says illegal immigrants and open borders "abused" and "weaponized" Americans' inherent "generosity."
"We turned a blind eye to new arrivals as they raided Medicaid and food stamps... And you know what the casualty of all of this has been? Trust. Our trust in our leaders. Our trust in our nation. A government that answers to the whole world, ladies and gentlemen, it was never going to answer to you. So we stopped trusting it. And my friends, I can't say that I blame them one bit."
Vance says Trump administration inherited crises from the Biden admin: "We got to remind ourselves we inherited the worst inflation crisis in a half a century in the United States of America. We inherited a nationwide surge of violent crime. We inherited an open border with drug cartels walking right through it. And under President Trump's leadership, all of that has changed."
A major strain of his speech has been about "sovereignty," which he applied to immigration, the globalists, taxes, housing, fraud, DEI, and more.
He attacks Roy Cooper on crime: "Don't judge Roy Cooper by his slick TV commercials. Don't judge Roy Cooper by what he says six days before an election. Judge Roy Cooper by what he did when he actually had power over your lives, and when Roy Cooper had power over your lives, he let criminals run roughshod over the state of North Carolina."
Vance, back on his speech's thesis: "I don't just want the American dream for me or for my generation. I want it for you, and I want it for the generation that comes after us. I want young people to be able to afford a home. I want my kids to raise a family in a country that is vibrant and thriving and free and prosperous. I want the simple things, ladies and gentlemen. I don't want the government to do everything for me. I don't want the government to be my nanny. I don't want it to take care of me. I just want my government to fight for my job, to fight for my safety. And because I want that for me, I want it for you, too."
Speech concluded at 3:26 p.m.
