Pool Report #1: President Trump Departs WH, Asked about Iran

President Trump walked out of the White House at 6:10pm and briefly made remarks to the press before heading to Marine One.

The president called yesterday’s parade a “tremendous success” and remarked on the lack of rain despite forecasts. He said, “didn’t do too well — the weather people last night.”

On Netanyahu and Iran: “We get along very well and I think we have great respect for each other.”

Asked about how he plans to de-escalate the situation between Iran and Israel, Trump said he hopes there will be a deal, “it’s time for a deal.”and added, “sometimes they have to fight it out.” “We’ll see what happens.” He said it’s a good chance a deal happens.

Asked to respond to protesters: “If we didn’t have the national guard on call and ready, they would rip Los Angeles apart.”

Trump was asked if he had called on Israel to pause airstrikes into Iran, and he said he “wouldn’t say that.”

The president said he expects a “few more trade deals.”

Trump was also asked if the US would continue to support Israel’s defenses, and replied, “we do.”
