Q: Did you sign letters related to trade?

Trump: “I did. I signed some letters and they’ll go out on Monday, probably 12.”

“12 different well, different amounts of money, different amounts of tariffs and somewhat different statements.”

Which countries will receive those letters on Monday?

“It will be announced. I have to announce it on Monday.”

Q: Do you expect any trade deals this weekend to be signed?

“Yeah, I do. I’ll probably send out 10 or 12 letters.”

Q: in addition to the letters, do you think you’ll be able to reach deals with the European Union or India?

“I think that letters are better for us. I’ve said that all along. You have hundreds of countries.”

“I think a simple tariff is simpler than, better than sitting down and working 15 different things. you know, with the UK, we did that. and it was great for both parties. With China, we did that, and I think it’s very good for both parties. We have India coming up and with Vietnam, we did it, but much easier to send a letter saying, ‘Listen we know we have a certain deficit, or in some cases a surplus, but not too many. And if this is what you have to pay if you wanna do business to the United States.”
