Director of the National Economic Council Kevin Hasset stopped by to answer questions on the driveway:
On Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook:
"The president absolutely has the authority to fire a fed governor for cause and I think the accusations are serious."
He says Cook should go on leave until the accusations are resolved.
"The fact that she is not doing that suggests that she is partisan and is trying to make a partisan stance which is contrary to the independence of the Fed."
"My understanding" that the investigation of Cook has been turned over to the Justice Department.
He also spoke about ongoing negotiations on tariffs on India.
