After around 40 minutes, the roundtable concluded, and the First Lady and guests left the East Room. A military band, lemonade and cookies were set up for a reception in the grand foyer of the White House.
Some notes:
OSTP Director Michael Kratsios kicked off remarks by thanking the First Lady for gathering the task force at the WH and highlighted the upcoming Presidential AI Challenge spearheaded by the First Lady.
Education Sec. Linda McMahon discussed AI initiatives at the Department of Education and said she is an “adapter” of utilizing AI. She received some light laughs from the audience when she said to the First Lady she would surmise that Barron Trump, the Trumps college age son, is “helping you with a little bit of this as well.”
Agriculture Sec. Rollins, Labor Sec. Lori Chavez-DeRemer, and Energy Sec. Chris Wright highlighted recent work at their respective departments on integrating AI. Wright said the US needs to “massively grow our electricity production” to meet AI demands.
They were followed with brief remarks by David Sacks, AI and Crypto Czar, IBM CEO Arvind Krishna, Cameron Wilson, director of Code.org, and Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Alphabet and Google.
I am told Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella was present in the audience, although I could not see from my vantage point! There were well over 150 people in the room.
Have a great afternoon, everyone.
