About 31 minutes into POTUS’s speech, pool was escorted from the event hall. He was still speaking when we were herded toward vans.
We are rolling to the national museum for an honor ceremony presentation at 1:56 pm.
Throughout his speech, POTUS touted the strength of the US economy and he read from a long list of corporations, including Google, Apple, Hyundai and Amazon, that have made investments into their he American economy.
He said his administration “cuts through the red tape” of bureaucracy to strike deals and build up the American economy.
He said his second-term administration would continue to cut regulations and “cut the fairest trade deals of anywhere in the world.” He promised low tax rates and energy costs.
He described what he sees as a common practice in his administration: “You want a new regulation, you have to get rid of ten.” He added: “We’re sort of cleaning up the books.”
He said he would change how the stock market works.
“Now when you announce good news the stock market goes down,” he said. “It’s the inverse of what it should be.”
“When we announce good news we’re not going to have a Fed that’s going to raise interest rates.”
“The scourge of inflation, I inherited.”
Trump insulted Jerome Powell and several of his aides laughed along.
He boasted that the government created “no new jobs” and that job creation was all private sector.
He called President Obama “Barack Hussein Obama” at one point and got some chuckles from the audience.
Other notes:
+ Speaking about technology, he said he came up with the concept of building electricity generating plants the size of Manhattan and that he would be permitting companies quickly to build gigantic facilities that create electricity. “If they have extra electricity they sell it back to the grid.”
+ He said coal has “a public relations problem.” He said his administration calls it “clean, beautiful coal” instead.
+ He boasted about his 2024 election win. “Thats why the map shows all red. Red being Republican not something else. Only you people understand.”
Ahead of his election: “Our country was depressed. And they had a right to be.”
On trade: “Reciprocity. A very important word.”
