Orban was seated next to Trump. After POTUS’s initial remarks Hungarian PM thanked for the invitation. „It’s good to be back after six years away, again to see you here” – he said.

At some point Trump asked Orban if he thinks that Ukraine can win the war. „Miracle can happen” – said Hungarian Prime Minister. Below are some other quotes from Mr. Orban’s remarks:

On U.S.- Hungary relations:

„Mr. President. You restored the old level of the relationship. You improved the bilateral relation; you repaired what was done badly by the previous administration”.

He later said he would like to open a „Golden age” of U.S. Hungarian relations.

On why Hungary can’t get off Russian oil:

„We are supplied by pipelines. Pipeline is not an ideological political issue. It's a physical reality, because we don't have fault exactly as the President told you. So we will negotiate on that point”.

On Hungary’s tensions with European Union:

„We are the only government in Europe which consider itself as a modern Christian government, all the other governments in Europe are basically liberal, leftist government. So we try to do something from2010 and which is different”.

„I'm not here to ask President Trump to manage my conflicts or our conflicts with the European Union. This is our method. So we will do it. What we need is a golden age to open a golden age of the United States Hungarian relationship”.

Orban suggested that the pressure from the Biden Administration to resist Russia and mobilizing military assistance to Ukraine contributed to prolonging the War in Ukraine:

„I understand absolutely the devotion of the President now to do everything to stop the war, because that would non happened without the previous pressure, previous government pressure, from here. Sothe reason why I'm here to be as much as helpful I can, to contribute to the peace efforts of the President, because that was an enormous mistake”.
