POTUS finished speaking a short time ago. Most of the pool reassembled at the gather spot before he was done and requested access to the event.
We were informed we could not go in mid-remarks for security reasons.
Courtesy of our broadcast colleagues, what follows is the note sent to the TV networks . . . .
The President just wrapped remarks to the families gathered in the Grand Foyer of the White House. He started with ad libbed remarks on the attacks in Rhode Island but covered the shootings in Australia and Syria.
Before we big on I want to pay respects to those no longer with us at Brown University, the President open. Likewise, to the antisemitic shooting in Australia and the attack in Syria.
“It was a rough day.”
Brown university, it’s a great school but stuff can happen, he added.
In Syria, there will “big damage” in response to the assault but offered great respect toward the Good Samaritan at Bondi beach who stopped the shooting.
Pivoting to more pleasant topics, he highlighted his grandchildren and asked Kai Trump if she could beat him. Bryson DeChambeau was then brought up the stairs remarks that caught him off guard. The duffer complimented the First Lady with how good she looked and when he praised the economy he got several hoots from the crowd.
Once back at the lectern, the President gave a long verbal replay of DeChambeau final hole at the US open. "Maybe I'll take a chipping lesson from him," he joked.
Next he singled out James Blair, recounting how he is trying to come up with good nickname for his deputy chief of staff despite his quiet demeanor.
Erin Elmore, Dan Scavino's fiancée, also took the stage and thanked the President for the invitation and friendship. His golf pro at Bedminster and lawyer were also singled out.
Speechwriter Vince Haley, the President announced, has been in charge of shepherding the Arch intended to be built near Arlington National Cemetery. Trump claimed that all great big cities has an Arch and the circle on the other side of Memorial Bridge has been waiting for something to be built since the Civil War. That area was developed in 1932.
He then recounted a trip where WH Doctor James Jones took a trip to Peru with President Obama's daughters. Despite being told that venomous snakes were not a problem, he was bit on the arm by a viper. He was read his last rights but a call another WH physician revealed that the antivenom was in the medical kit traveling with the group.
He teased the doctor that the book he wrote didn't sell any copies but the moral is that wildlife always wins. (That advice was directed toward Don Jr, who the President joked, would rather be in the jungle.) But then he took credit for pushing it to the best sellers list after posting about it on Truth. "Go by his book, it's an incredible story."
Finally, he tacked back toward his standard topics. He trashed Biden administration for the economy he was forced to inherit, claimed Democrats were only good at rigging elections. The economy was doing great despite the unnamed Trump Derangement Syndrome suffering Federal Reserve administrator.
Melania Trump was invited to speak and he gave her a hard time for not having green trees the first few years she led the decorating. She also extended her thoughts toward the attacks in Rhode Island.
Toward the end, the crowd started to thin as the restless toddlers attention flagged and their parents escorted toward the rest of the building.
