in-town pool report #8 - event color + some quotes

The event is ongoing. POTUS has concluded his remarks. As always, please check quotes against transcript and/or video.

President Trump said the Panthers had the “aura of winning” last season and had the “most dominant Playoff run in history.”

Trump verbally jabbed at Canada, noting the Panthers defeated the Edmonton Oilers in the Cup Finals. He chuckled while noting “you denied Canada the Stanley Cup,” adding: “

we have a little competition” with Canada.

“We're doing much better than Canada, but that's okay,” POTUS said. “We want them to do well, and they're going to do well.”

Trump quipped he “hated” standing in front of such “young and beautiful” players, noting their “power.” He added he has “power, too,” in the U.S. military.

Trump quipped he ran again after realizing all the major sporting events and celebrations coming this term. “So, you know, when I got rigged, when you had a rigged election, I was really angry about it. Then I realized, if I win the next time I pick up the Olympics, the World Cup and the 250th,” he said.

Trump said he chose to name the new “Presidential Walk of Fame” despite the phrase “walk of shame.” He said the other option was “Presidential Wall of Shame.”

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman was seated in the front row and got a presidential shout-out.
