VP Pool Report #7 arrival at venue

Motorcade arrived at Royalston Square event venue at 12:18 p.m CT. We did not see VP arrive but he was going straight into closed-door meetings with ICE agents and roundtable participants. Your pooler has asked for the names of participants but VP’s office has not shared yet. We are tracking on time and still expecting VP to make remarks at 1:40 p.m. CT.

Pool is holding in a large room at the event center where the VP will speak later. There are three ICE SUVs positioned around the podium as a backdrop, along with American flags, the VP flag and a Minnesota flag. The room was mostly empty except for waiting unilateral press and Rihanna’s “Don’t Stop the Music” was playing loudly. More music continues.

There were about 12 protesters outside the venue as motorcade rolls in. Two were holding signs that said “ICE out” and one appeared to be written in German.

The VP during the flight did a roughly half hour interview with Washington Examiner. Pooler is advised that first story from that will be posted soon and more tomorrow.
