VP pool report #2

Air Force Two was up 7:59 p.m. ET. We touched down at Milan Malpensa Airport at 10:10 a.m. local time. It is quite foggy and there very little visibility.

A few minutes into the flight, Vance could be seen wearing a black T-shirt standing inside the plane. At 8:08 p.m., he came back to very briefly say hello to the press. It was off the record. The flight was otherwise uneventful.

Vance deplaned with his family at 10:28 a.m.wearing a blue jacket. Usha Vance was wearing a white fuzzy U.S.A. Olympic jacket.

A red carpet was rolled out and two Carabinieri honor guards in formal dress flanked the sides.

The VP and second lady were shook hands with a line of greeters, spending a few minutes speaking to each.

Greeters included:

Tilman J. Fertitta, U.S. Ambassador to Italy

Lauren Fertitta, wife

Douglass Benning, Consul General

Bruno Pasquino, MFA chief of protocol

Salvatore Pasquariello, Prefect of Varese

Vance did not speak to press. He got into his SUV at 10:32 a.m. and the motorcade started rolling at 10:35 a.m.

We are heading to a site where the VP will meet with some of the U.S. Olympic athletes.
