VP Pool Report #1 wheels up to Armenia

Good morning from Milan. I will be your vice presidential pooler for Armenia. Air Force Two will be wheels up shortly for Yerevan.

Vance’s visit will be historic as no sitting U.S. president or vice president has ever visited Armenia. Jacob Helberg, Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs, and Aryeh Lightstone, senior advisor to the president’s Board of Peace, are traveling on AF2.

The VP’s motorcade left the Milan RON at 9:42 a.m., wound through the misty streets of Milan and arrived Aeropuerto di Milano Linate at 9:58 a.m. This is a different airport from where AF2 landed on Thursday. Pool has inquired about the change but do not know why it is different.

The VP was already climbing the stairs of the plane when the pool van arrived. He was inside by 10:02 a.m.

After landing on Yerevan, Vance will meet with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. It’s scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m., Armenia Standard Time.

It will be a four hour flight and Yerevan is +3 hrs. We will be wheels up shortly.
