Vance referenced the State of the Union, criticizing Democrats for not standing when President Trump urged both parties to rise if they believed the government’s first duty is to protect Americans rather than undocumented immigrants.

He said the episode illustrated what’s at stake in November: “The State of the Union should have shown us that we cannot give power back to congressional Democrats.”

Vance recounted the moment with a young girl who had been assaulted by an illegal immigrant but had recovered. He spoke about how her joyful reunion with her father contrasted sharply with the Democrats’ reaction:

Vance also addressed affordability and housing prices:

“Housing prices are down. Apartment rents are down. For months in a row, we came in saying we wanted to make housing more affordable, and we're starting to make good progress on that.”

Vance said mortgage costs would go down further if Fed Chair Powell lowered interest rates.
