VP Report #6- JBA arrival

AF2 was wheels down at JBA at 9:56pm.

VP Vance disembarked at 10:06 pm and boarded M2 at 10:07pm.

M2 was wheels up at 10:12pm.

Some more notes from the dignified transfer:

When pool walked out a row of chairs were set up on one side of a van while press and others lined up on the other side.

“Wheel’s rolling” was shouted, followed by “Family in sight.”

VP Vance walked to the line at the opposite side of the C-17 before moving behind the transfer vehicle and emerging with Sec. Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Caine and Under Secretary of the Army Michael Obadal, to take their positions.

The dignified transfer started with the movement of the carry team from beside the transfer vehicle, who then moved toward and into the C-17.

Vance, Caine and Obadal moved to the bottom of the C-17 and bowed their heads during prayer from the chaplain, who was out of sight from the pool. A voice could be heard but was not completely audible. They then returned to line up between the C-17 and transfer vehicle. They stood at attention and in silence as the transfer case was carried from the C-17 to the transfer vehicle and as doors were closed.

After Vance and others moved from the area, the family departed in a bus that pulled out from the other side of the van next to press, after which time the flight line dismissed call was made marking the conclusion of the dignified transfer.
