VP Pool Report # 5 - Press Conference Remarks

The press conference got underway at 1348 CEST. They spoke for around 35 minutes.

PM Orban spoke in Hungarian and the pool listened via a translation headset. Orban said the pair discussed energy security in Europe, US efforts to broker an end to the war in Ukraine and the defense of western civilization.

Vance thanks Orban and said “I want to help the Prime Minister as much as I can” ahead of the elections. The VP said he wanted to send a signal particularly to “bureaucrats” in Brussels, whom he accused of undermining Orban and of interfering in the elections. He described it as “one of the worst examples of foreign election interference.”

“I’m here because of the moral cooperation between our two countries,” Vance said, adding that the two countries represent the defense of western civilization.
