VP Pool Report #1: JBA Departure

Good morning from JBA ahead of the vice president’s trip to Pakistan.

M2 landed at 8:23 a.m. and the VP made brief remarks to the pool before boarding AF2.

“We’re looking forward to negotiation. I think it's going to be positive.”

“As the President of the United States said, if the Iranians are willing to negotiate in good faith, we're certainly willing to extend the open hand. If they're going to try to play us, then they're going to find the negotiating team is not that receptive."

“So we're going to try to have a positive negotiation. The President gave us some pretty clear guidelines, and we're going to see.”

He did not answer any questions. We should be wheels up shortly.
