In-town pool report #1: Arrival ceremony details

Good morning from the White House, where there is no change at this point in the president's schedule sent out earlier. The White House Press Office passes on these details about the arrival ceremony scheduled for 10:35 a.m. at the South Portico.

“FIRSTS”: The pre-ceremony program, featuring US military members, will feature a drum and bugle corps performance (“The Commandant’s Own” United States Drum and Bugle Corps and The US Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps).

The ceremony will include the very first pass in review at the White House. This is also the first White House event that involves a Space Force Honor Guard formation.

MUSIC: During the State Arrival Ceremony the Herald Trumpets will play “Hail to the Chief” for POTUS/FLOTUS introduction, “Jubilant Fanfare” for the arrival of Their Majesties, “Presidential Procession” for the conclusion of the ceremony and movement to the Blue Room Balcony.

The President’s Own United States Marine Band will play a pre-ceremony program including popular John Phillip Sousa selections, the national anthems of the United Kingdom and the United States, Inspection will conclude with the “Stars and Stripes Forever” march by John Phillips Sousa.

PRE-CEREMONY PROGRAM: The pre-ceremony program on the South Lawn, immediately prior to the arrival, will feature over 200 performers.

The pre-ceremony will include a historic and exciting first, a performance by “The Commandant’s Own” United States Drum and Bugle Corps and The US Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, complete with drill presentation.

Additionally, we will have pre-ceremony performances by The United States Navy Band, The United States Air Force Band, and The United States Navy Sea Chanters.

BACKGROUND ON VARIOUS MILITARY COMPONENTS

The United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps celebrates more than 91 years of marching and musical excellence, while carrying the distinction of being the only drum and bugle corps serving in the United States Armed Forces. This morning, the drum corps presents a dynamic performance in celebration of our great nation’s 250th year of Independence, featuring a variety of American patriotic music to include: Liberty Fanfare, In A Cause Called Glorious, Battle Hymn of the Republic, American Salute Fanfare, and America the Brave. The Marine Barracks Washington D.C. is proud to present “The Commandant’s Own” United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps.

The Third United States Infantry Regiment, The Old Guard, traces its lineage back to George Washington’s original continental army, and today serves as the Army’s official escort to the President of the United States. In 1960, the Army Fife and Drum corps was organized to participate in official ceremonies and to revive our Army’s musical heritage. The United States Army Military District of Washington, under the command of Major General Antoinette R. Gant, is proud to present The United States Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps.

The United States Navy Band provides musical support for more than 1,300 military and government engagements annually for the country’s highest-ranking officials, ceremonies across Naval District Washington and funerals at Arlington National Cemetery. Renowned for their flawless musical execution, the band has represented the Navy’s professionalism at home and on the world stage in parades, international music festivals and military tattoos in Quebec, Norway and Sweden.

The United States Air Force Band is comprised of six musical ensembles whose mission is to HONOR those who have served, INSPIRE American citizens to heightened patriotism and service, and CONNECT with the global community on behalf of the U.S. Air Force and the United States. The excellence demonstrated by the U.S. Air Force Band reflects the excellence displayed by all Airmen stationed worldwide, whose selfless service and sacrifices ensure the freedoms enjoyed by citizens of the United States of America.

The United States Navy Band Sea Chanters is the United States Navy's official chorus. In 1956, Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Arleigh Burke recognized a Navy vocal ensemble's success at a State of the Nation dinner, he transferred the group to the U.S. Navy Band in Washington, D.C. The Sea Chanters are found at the heart of our nation's most somber events, playing a vital role in uplifting Americans at memorials and funerals, including the astronauts of the Space Shuttle Columbia, Flight 93's crash site memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, the internment of first lady Jaqueline Kennedy, and the funerals of presidents Reagan, Ford, Nixon and Carter. They have shared the stage with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, the Boston Pops, the Baltimore Symphony, the Cincinnati Pops and the National Symphony Orchestra.
