VP Pool Report Vance remarks in Iowa

Nunn took the stage 4:55 p.m. local time to introduce Vance. Nunn in his remarks referenced high gas prices and the cost of fertilizer felt by Iowans and farmers, but also spoke of the sacrifices by military members. He called Vance Trump’s “wingman for the next two years” and “a man who's leading the charge to win this midterm.”
Vance took the stage at 5:10 p.m. In his remarks, he praised Trump and Nunn throughout, crediting them as he spoke about them fighting for Iowans. The VP promoted the tax cuts that Trump signed and the tariffs trump has imposed “because we’re protecting the jobs of our workers.” When he touched on affordability, he spoke about the cost of rent coming down. He also touted the anti-fraud task force he’s leading as an effort to protect Americans’ hard-earned money, focusing on Minnesota.
“Finding fraud in the federal government—it’s kind of like fishing in a barrel with dynamite,” Vance said of his role.
Turning to Nunn’s race, he said that he was flipping around in his notes for the name of Nunn’s opponent because “We’re gonna make fun of her a little bit.”
Vance turned to the impacts of the Iran war and said he’s aware of the high fertilizer prices and said, “We got a little blip.”
“We’re working on it. We’re working on that every single day,” he said.
He wrapped at 5:47 pm.
Motorcade began rolling at 5:50 pm. We should be at Des Moines International Airport in about 15.
