Travel pool note #10 - Airport

Motorcade arrived at airport at 2.20pm

We passed a deserted Tiananmen Square, where several policeman lined the road, and

numerous crowds of people filming the motorcade as we drove through the city. Our side of the carriageway was deserted but traffic continued on the other side. Roads around the airport though were totally shut down.

WH staff asked us to hand over the little red lapel badges pool had been given to identify us, saying the Chinese wanted them back.
