Out-of-Town Pool Report #11 - POTUS concludes

POTUS concluded his remarks at 12:43 p.m.

There were laughs at his comment about parents calling their children “boy” and “girl,” and that he knew parents of a potential cadet that he doubted would “make” it.

There were also smiles at him saying there were some graduates who are “slightly” better than the others.

“Never feel guilty about success, right?”

He asked six distinguished cadets onstage.

“I hate good-looking men,” he told the first.

“I’m not fighting him,” he said to the second. “This is not UFC. Please understand that, Thomas.“

“If I didn't invite her up, they’d accuse me of discrimination,” he added to the fourth to chuckles.

He joked, too, about local restaurant, Mr. G’s: “I don't know what it is, but I don't like the sound of this. I'm not, where am I going with this one? But we want you all to have a clean slate as you begin your career, so therefore, Mr. Superintendent, I hereby absolve all cadets who are on restriction for minor conduct infractions, and even somewhat major infractions, effective immediately.”

He underscored his policy decisions to help student athletes, his deal with Finland for “at least 55” new ice breakers, and complained about prior agreements with Taiwan for semiconductors.

“We're not going to let Iran have a nuclear weapon and blow up the entire Middle East, Israel, the entire Middle East, and then come here for you, not going to happen,” he said of Iran.

He additionally praised the Coast Guard for its work securing the border, interdicting illegal drugs, its role in seizing former Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro, and its increased enrolment/recruitment numbers.

He concluded: “As you enter the officer corps of the greatest military in the history of the world, our national strength is back. Our morale is back. We are a confident country again. We have confidences back, and above all, America is back, bigger and better and stronger than ever before. We have a strong, great, respected country again.”

“I’ve learned a lot about life, but the one thing I've really learned is that perseverance, never quitting, never giving up, is a big deal.”

“Second, at this pivotal time of transformation for our armed forces, you have to think big. It's much better thinking big, small solutions yield small results. Only big ideas will yield to tremendous change and greatness. Americans do not want to live in a world ruled by someone else's big ideas.”

“It would be tough if I didn't do things, if I didn't do things, I don't know what I'd be doing, it probably wouldn't be good, but you got to love it, and if you love it, it's never considered work.”

There were attendees watching from a nearby grassy area, while others received first aid, presumably from the heat - water was passed out to graduates as well.

The graduates later gifted POTUS with a “token of appreciation.”
