WH Travel Pool Report #5 el-Sisi Q&A

The pool entered President Trump’s bilat with President el-Sisi of Egypt at 12:41 pm. We were guided out at 12:57 PM.

As staffers were guiding the pool out, Trump was asked if the MOU contains “immediate sanctions relief” for Iran. The president shook his head and said "no." "No immediate sanctions relief?" Trump was asked again. "They have to behave well," Trump said.

Trump was also asked if he had talked to Ahmed al-Sharaa of Syria about combating Hezbollah and he shook his head yes and said "yes." Trump was asked if al-Sharaa was willing to combat Hezbollah and he said he would talk about that later.

Earlier in the Q&A, Trump was asked if the MOU contained a $300 construction fund funded by Gulf allies.

"It's false," Trump said. "You can invest if you want. What am I going to do, say no one is ever allowed to invest? We're not investing, we're not putting up 10 cents and people can decide to do it. That's up to them."

Trump was then asked if he's asking Gulf countries to invest in it.

"No, I'm not. If they do it fine. But I would say they won't be doing it for a while until they find out the behavior. It's a behavior thing but we are not investing," Trump said.
