Vance deplaned from Air Force 2 at 11:33 and walked into a hangar at Naval Air Station Oceana with "Long Cool Woman" by The Hollies blasting. There are two very large American flags and a banner reading “250 YEARS OF AMERICAN MILITARY EXCELLENCE.” Fighter jets flank the stage. Naval aviators in green combat dress stood and whooped at his entry.

Rep. Kiggans spoke first and said the America 250 celebration began with the VP's trip here. Kiggans is a Navy veteran who served at this base flying helicopters in search and rescue operations.

Veterans Affairs Sec. Doug Collins spoke next and led the aviators in a call and response of "Go Navy, Beat Army!" Says "there would not be one candle on the cake" for the US's birthday without military service members.
