Pool report #17: Reading of Roosevelt speech

At 12:25, POTUS and Secretary Burgum stood facing the pool as Sec. Burgum’s voice was heard on speakers reading a famous “Man in the Arena” excerpt from the “Citizenship In A Republic” speech that former President Roosevelt delivered in France in 1910. Sec. Burgum told the pool that POTUS’ voice will be heard delivering the excerpt when the museum formally opens.

Instrumental music played during the recording. The room was C-shaped and the curved portion of the wall was filled with words from the speech.

POTUS and Sec. Burgum spoke briefly afterwards. I’ve attached the Otter.

From POTUS: “It's a part of the country that I love, and I think they love me, because I have the all-time record in presidential voting, and that's an honor, because they are the people that built America.”
