Travel pool report #10: Arrival ceremony and honor guard review

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived at 3:23 p.m.at the Bestepe Presidential Compound to greet President Trump again -- this time with an arrival ceremony and honor guard review. Erdogan started walking down another long, aqua blue carpet here at the presidential compound, from the main building toward the July 15 Martyrs Monument.

A brass band with drums is playing upbeat, fanfare style music. There are soldiers in formal dress lining either side of the blue carpet. Some are clad in more traditional seeming red and navy uniforms, while others appear in more Western style dress, in a lighter blue, but still with a historical and more formal feel. There are even more folks at the end of the carpet by the building from which Erdogan emerged, some of them in historical looking suits of honor. Several are silver. A couple are gold.

As of 3:27 p.m. the band started playing the Star Spangled Banner. We can hear what sound like cannons in the background, which are functioning as staccatos to the music. We did see some cannons from the press van before pulling in but cannot see them now.

Four red fighter jets screamed overhead at about 3:32 p.m.trailing red white and blue smoke, reminiscent of the show we ourselves got in Washington, D.C. over the weekend from the U.S. military.

Trump and Erdogan emerged from the wall of soldiers and exited into the building as of 3:33 p.m.
