VP Pool report #3 event site color

While VP Vance attends the fundraiser, the pool was taken to the remarks site. It’s on the military side of the airport, the 128th Air Refueling Wing.

A Turning Point Action booth is set up outside. Inside, a crowd of what your pooler estimates to be a couple hundred people is seated inside the hangar.

A podium is set, with signage reading “Protecting Taxpayer Dollars” in front of it. Signage displayed behind it also reads “Fighting Fraudsters.” Some in the audience are holding similar smaller signs.

Rep. Van Orden is chatting with people in the audience (thanks to co-pooler Alex Gangitano for the spot).

One attendee, who identifies himself as an English teacher named Mike, tells your pooler “I’m interested in the message that JD is bringing. He’s a really intriguing candidate.” He goes on to say “He’s had a tough background he’s had to go through to work his way up. To make the change on Trump, I feel he and I are kind of the same on that.”…”A lot of republicans were turned off by some of the harsh rhetoric (referring to President Trump) but JD is kind of a representative of people who have seen through the rhetoric seen through the substance of what Trump has achieved. Substance is more important than rhetoric. I think JD the way that he speaks and the strength he portrays is on the same bar as Trump but I don’t think you’re going to see that absolute hatred some people have towards Trump to JD because he’s such a likable guy.”
