Dr. Mehmet Oz took the stage with posters alongside him as displays. He said heand Vance flew out with members of task force, including CMS’ deputy administrator Kim Brandt. He touted the administration’s efforts.
“These aren't broken up little mom and pop setups of fraud. This is a massive and often multinational criminal network that's taking advantage of the system. We’re being attacked, just as if they were firing rockets,” Oz says in part,”trying to pierce the hides of CMS.” (Please verify against the audio).
Oz brought members of the team up to the stage to be recognized, each receiving applause from the audience.
He pointed to administration action on durable medical supply equipment. “This team was able to take out essentially I’ll say the majority by far of all this fraud.”
Oz ends with a message to “fraudsters,” saying ”do not walk away from this press conference. You start running. Because the vice president and this task force is coming after you.”
