President Trump entered the room at 1pm and talked to museum officials.
Seven veterans wearing medals of honor, including two elderly men in wheelchairs, were lined up in front of the helicopter for Trump’s arrival.
‘Hey sir,’ one of them called out as Trump walked over to talk to them.
One of the veterans is Tony Birdwell, the man featured in the picture receiving his medal from Biden in July 2022 (and who briefly posed below the picture for pictures taken by his fellow veterans.) The caption said Birdwell, of the Cherokee Nation, received the medal for making ‘a prolonged stand, exposed on top of a tank, during the Tet Offensive’
‘Is he ever gonna show up?’ one of the veterans joked earlier as we waited for Trump. Another one said he was waiting for Trump ‘to talk to him, because I gotta lotta things to say.’
