The motorcade entered the WH grounds at 17th and E, then drove northward up to Pennsylvania and circled into the North Portico driveway. The president's vehicle went underneath the scaffolding covering the North Portico, with the protective fabric that has an image of the portico pulled back to allow entry. POTUS returned to the White House grounds at 4:02 p.m. after a mostly uneventful trip from his golf club. At one point on I-66, a DC Fire and EMS ambulance flashing its emergency lights appeared accidentally to enter the motorcade ahead of the press vans. We're on I-66 headed into Virginia for some Saturday activities. A dozen or so people at each closed intersection in DC watched the motorcade go by. A gray police boat in the Potomac appearing to be pausing a crew team that was rowing near the Kennedy Center. The I-66 commute is faster with Secret Service escort.
